George Edward Rutherford, 11th Baron Tennington (possibly that ought to read 'of Tennington') is described by Philip José Farmer in his biography Tarzan Alive. He, his wife Elizabeth Cavendish, and his sister Alicia Rutherford were witnesses to the Wold Newton Meteorite strike.
Lord and Lady Rutherford had two sons. Both the elder, who succeeded to the family titles as the 12th Baron, and the younger son Scott, are the ancestors of many eminent members of the Wold Newton Family.
Wold Newton scholar Isaac Turner has argued that the 11th Baron and Elizabeth Cavendish, as described by Farmer, are the same people as the Viscount Rutherford and his wife Eliza that feature in a Regency Romance A Reputation Dies by Alice Chetwynd Ley. This book reveals that Lord Rutherford has a total of five siblings, including the scholarly Justin Rutherford who solves a murder during the course of the story, and a daughter named Anthea.
