The Brandon Family are an upper-class English family, descended from the 1st Duke of Greystoke. They are discussed by Philip José Farmer in Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life and "Jongor in the Wold Newton Family".

John Cecil Clayton, 1st Duke of Greystoke had several children including both the second and third Dukes, and a daughter who married Sir George Brandon, Baronet of Brandon Abbas in the County of Devon. This marriage may have brought the grey eyes common in the Wold Newton Family into the Brandons.

Sir George was the father of Mary Brandon who emigrated to America with her husband Joshua Spade following a scandal involving Harry Flashman. Their great-grandson was detective Sam Spade.

Sir George was the ancestor of Sir Charles Brandon, (a figure in George Bernard Shaw's novel An Unsocial Socialist) and Sir Hector Brandon, absentee landlord of the family estates at Brandon Abbas and the husband of Lady Brandon, who adopted the orphaned Geste brothers, in the novel Beau Geste by P.C. Wren.
