David Copperfield is the central character of the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens. Much like Dickens himself, Copperfield experienced a miserable childhood working in a factory, but won fame and fortune as a writer in later life. Amongst Copperfield's friends can be numbered Mr. Micawber.

In The Adventure of the Peerless Peer, Philip José Farmer represents himself as the American agent for the literary estate of David Copperfield.
