Etienne Austin, according to Cheryl L. Huttner in her article "Name of a Thousand Blue Demons" (published as part of Myths for the Modern Age ed. Win Scott Eckert) was a Frenchman rescued from the horrors of the French Revolution by Sir Percy Blakeney, who took him on to serve as postilion on his coaches. Ms. Huttner is in possession of a journal reproducing an eye-witness account of the Wold Newton Meteorite strike, originally penned by Austin after his employer's coach passed through Wold Newton at the time of the event.
