For other people called Mycroft Holmes, see Mycroft Holmes (disambiguation).

Mycroft Holmes was the son of Siger Holmes and Violet Rutherford, and the older brother of Sherlock Holmes. He joined British intelligence and eventually became its head.

According to Brad Mengel's "Watching the Detectives, or The Sherlock Holmes Family Tree", Mycroft had three children: Andrew Holmes ("The Affair of the Midnight Midget" by Ardath Mayhar) and Isobella Holmes (The Curse of the Nibelung by Marcel D'Agneau) by his first marriage, and "Shrinking" Violet Holmes by his second marriage.
