Rudolph Virag, later Rudolph Bloom, was a Hungarian Jew who settled in Ireland at the invitation of his relative, fellow-immigrant Julius Higgins. Once in Ireland, Virag adopted the English translation of his surname ("Bloom") and converted to Christianity.

He married Higgins's daughter Ellen, though she was much younger than himself, and they had a son whom they named Leopold.

Virag, Higgins, and the Bloom family, are discussed in Tarzan Alive.
